According to the 20-city S&P/Case-Shiller index that tracks year-over-year changes, Charlotte defies the downward price trends among major metro areas. Charlotte lead the pack of 20-cities and posted a 4% increase in home prices, in stark contrast to a drop of more than 10% for cities like Detroit, Las Vegas, Miami and San Diego.
